The Final Countdown!

My experience with IS 101 has been super positive. I feel like I really have come a long way compared to where I first started back a few months ago. I know how to comfortably navigate all of the main office apps and am able to put together well-made papers, sheets, and powerful PowerPoint presentations. I feel like the only other thing I could have done differently in this class was to invest more time in the class so that I could be ahead instead of on pace or slightly behind. There was a time when I was almost a whole two weeks behind because I was shifting my focus to another direction.

My experience with the A5 Slideshow Presentations was very positive. I was one of the first presenters so it put a little bit of pressure on me to perform well but I think I hit all of the points very well! As far as making the presentation was super simple I just ended up choosing a topic that was easy and quick to make. My first draft was just stock pictures which was fixed super quick and then my finalized version was even quicker making a return within 30 minutes of entering the class! Overall, it was super fun and easy!

How 5.7.1 and 4.8.3 Assist in My Daily Work Routine, and A Strong Finish in IS 101!

The skill that I decided to elaborate on based on my personal experience was 4.8.3 Advanced Table Formatting. I feel this skill has become something super useful, especially in my work area where I am constantly using worksheets like Excel and Word. It makes my life much easier knowing that I don't have to delete the extra columns or fix the weird spacing that Excel creates from copying and pasting information from one document to another. I can create a table and then export it or even just copy and paste it over to Excel or any other document I need it in. The same applies to the spacing; it pretty much eliminates all of the previous problems I was experiencing!

The skill I would like to elaborate on for Excel is 5.7.1 Relative and Absolute References. Let me tell you, once I figured out how to use this skill, it made my work life much easier and more efficient. I was able to copy information and keep it attached to one important cell without having to type in the number I needed every time; then I could follow up with another function if needed!

So far, I can envision myself finishing this class while completing both of the final bonus quizzes. I already took the PowerPoint, Word, and Excel tests and scored pretty well, so hopefully, I can aim for the mastery badges. At this point, I feel confident in my skills and am also glad that I have the opportunity to exercise my newly learned skills at work (which helps set me apart from my coworkers who are still doing the same tasks the slower way).

My Personal Experience and Wired/Wireless Networks!

My personal experience with IS 101 has been nothing but exceptional! I've had nothing but the best experience as a student under Professor Wu. Since the beginning, he has continued to be an excellent teacher and will definitely be one I will remember for years. The actual course self is a little heavier on the load but nothing I can't handle. So far I rate it a 10/10 class especially how helpful Professor Wu is compared to every other class I've had.

The skill I chose was (2.5.1) Wired and Wireless Networks! I chose this skill because my personal desktop computer uses a wired connection and there really is a significant difference in the speed of my internet compared to a normal wireless connection. For example, my Macbook has a wireless connection and gets around 300 Mbps download whereas my desktop computer connected to the LAN cable gets around 1,000 Mbps! It's the same in my work office where all of the computers are connected by LAN cables and are much faster than our mobile devices which are all wireless.

A little bit about myself!

Hello, my name is Daniel Barbosa (I also go by Danny) and this will be my second semester at CSN! I am 19 years old and I currently work full-time for Centennial Toyota specifically in scheduling for the service department. I have worked with Centennial Toyota since I graduated so I've been with them for a little over a year now! I am also a full-time student here at CSN I have 4 classes and a lab so 5 total classes. I graduated High school in May of 2023, from Northwest Career and Technical Academy with my program area being Mechanical Technology. I love cars I personally do love to work on and do all of the regular maintenance for the family vehicles as well as my own vehicle. I currently own a 2023 Honda Accord (I know it's ironic that I work for Toyota but own a Honda) and I enjoy adding aftermarket parts to my vehicle. In my spare time, I like to spend time with friends or go to the gym. I usually spend about 2 hours a day at the gym usually going about 5 days a week depending on how busy life becomes.
